mutilator: “punched out from all tourneys”

Our latest crew addtion ruskie, had opportunity to have a little talk with mutilator whose QHLAN adventure didn’t exactly go as he planned. Read more to find out why.

Hey mutilator, tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Martin Samuelsson. I’m 20 years old and work as a chef in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m sharing an apartment with topdueller seese in Jrla, located in Nacka outside of Stockholm. He makes me do all the dishes :/

What mouse/mousepad do you use, and what client GL/SW?

I recently purchased an icemat since I accidentally broke my old glass pad cleaning my room a few months ago 8)

I’m using some old optical mouse, think it’s Ms Optical 1.1 or something (got it from ljuglampa ages ago). Atm im using fuh-gl but I’ll probably change to EZquake to get smoother fps.

How was QHLAN10 and what was the ups and downs?

Well, qhlan wasn’t too many well known faces. Felt like I hardly knew anyone. The first night was really fun and for the first time in like 9 months I played qw for more than one hour (playing 2on2 with clan leader nakoz). The second night I arrived during the power break and I waited for ~1h until me and nakoz decided to get back to town. As we walked out the door the power came back and I began to get second thoughts, but then Internet didn’t work so I decided to leave. On Saturday evening I was punched out from all the tourneys so I spent most of my time waiting for the finals. Downs were of course the Internet (when it did work it was really slow and you couldn’t even connect to quakenet), and in the beginning there was some retard playing very loud music making it almost impossible to hear qwsounds. Also the attendance of qwplayers were way to low to make the competitions interesting.

I was satisfied with the venue even though it was divided into two rooms. The air was fresh and the temperature kept at a nice level throughout the whole lan.

Do you enjoy QuakeWorld today as much as in the old days?

Sure, qw is still the same. But the scene were a lot more interesting back in the days so now I don’t find the motivation to play really. Nowadays it happens more quite rarely.

If you got three wishes, what would you do to improve the qw community?

Increase amount of players, money and organization.

Do you have any favourite player, and if so, why?

No I don’t have any favorite players anymore but if I had to pick someone who I prefer playing against or just watch I would say Reppielator, without a doubt the best all round player these past years.

What are your strongest maps and why?

DM4, it suits my aim and tactics the best. Also it’s the map I have played the most over the years so I always know what to do no matter the situation.

Have you noticed anything different when IOP changed to KTX instead of KTPro? There is some talk of that you can go faster through dm6 tunnel.

Heh no not really except some minor changes in wp_stats and such

Thanks for your time!

I'm really sorry we had to kick you from the tournaments muti, but it was your choice to leave and it shouldn't have come as a surprise. We waited as long as we could, but in the end we couldn't let the tournament be delayed any more, it was already late enough from the power outage... =(
Better luck next time!
