Will the travel agency’s 2-frag loss curse continue on Sunday?

During an active QuakeWorld competition, Sunday night often happens to be the night when all the action takes place. This week’s Sunday is no exception as the quickly progressing Russians NoPasaran will take on the quite recently founded travel agengy, I mean QuakeWorld clan, Star Alliance. So far during this NQR season, NoPasaran have played six games and Star Alliance seven games. However these teams are separated by 7 points, which places NoPasaran on the 9th position while Star Alliance sits on 5th place.

Star Alliance though could be one or two positions higher if the lady luck would have been on their side during the first few games of the season. The so called 2-frag curse comes from the fact that Star Alliance lost to KOFF and Slackers by 2 frags, the map also happened to be e1m2 on both cases, which coincidently also happens to be NoPasaran’s home map! Some of you might remember NoPasaran’s fabulous performance on e1m2 when they almost beat Fragomatic. 10 minutes into the game, NoPasaran were actually leading by 30-40 frags. Fate had different plans on that night, but it sure sent out a warning to their future opponents.

NoPasaran! are obviously newcomers to Gold division but they have shown the whiners just how brave they are. Although they have lost 5 out of 6 games so far this season, there hasn’t been any single sign of giving up by these fellas. Instead they have actively tried to improve by practising against top dogs like The Viper Squad.

By quick thought this game may seem like just another gold blowout but there is actually something interesting that could happen in this game. The interesting thing is that NoPasaran does have chances to get two points from this match. How is that possible? Well, unfortunately the requirements list is a bit tough from NoPasaran’s point of view as it includes: A-lineup, A-teamplay and Star Alliance’s curse to continue on e1m2. The first requirements they will without a doubt try to fulfill but the last one isn’t up to them. If the curse is gone, so are NoPasaran’s chances to get two points out of this match as I don’t see them beating Star Alliance on dm3 or dm2, unless they have exceptionally weak lineup.

Whatever you think the outcome is, you can express yourself by betting on this game at Goldrush.

Star Alliance [ 2:0 ] NoPasaran!
e1m2: 238-123 / dm2: 277-106

SA’s lineup: reppie, lakso, mawe, goblin
NO’s lineup: Zepp, B1aze, xpr, StarlinG

I'm certainly cheering for our friends at np!, but come on, almost beat f0m on e1m2? Sure it was a nice game from np!, but it ended 251-150 :) Well it's below the going rejp-limit, so I guess it's a good performance >:F

It was even until the last quarter of the game, which amazes me at least.

SA better win this 2-0 or else I'll never attempt a slow, but powerful, comeback on Goldrush :{

Fabulous article! More coverage like this would be hot, not only from qwdrama, but also from quakeworld.nu.

Niomic: I agree; the result doesn't really reflect the statement that "NoPasaran almost won", but did you actually see the game? Well if you did, then you will agree that NoPasaran performed incredibly well during the first 10 minutes and that they were but a few minutes short of glory. Had they kept it up, they would haven taken it home for sure. Sadly, when playing clans like Fragomatic, the slightest mistake can revert the situation, and we all know what happens once the f0m-train starts its engines.

I recently flew Air NZ who are a member of the Star Alliance group from London to Melbourne going the long way around (via the US) and found their service to be pretty good. They have on-demand video with a bunch of reasonably recent movies, good food for a plane and reasonable service. I was lucky enough to have an exit row all the way back so had plenty of leg room. I would fly with them again, but I would advise against going the long way around (via the US).

I hope you realised that I was making fun of the clan Star Alliance due the fact that their name is indeed used by real traveling agency (as you just mentioned) :P
